How accurate is the cost projection?
The projection starts from real examiner data where it exists (Private and Commercial), uses the FAA minimum as a disclosed floor where reliable data does not exist (Instrument, CFI, CFII), and sharpens to your own logged flights inside the app. The honesty is the product. Does the calculator save my information?
Not unless you ask it to. The estimator runs entirely in your browser. The only thing we store is your email and the projection figures, and only if you choose to send yourself the breakdown.
Why is your range higher than my school's quote?
Because most school quotes use the FAA legal minimum (40 hours for a Private), and almost nobody finishes there. The real examiner average is closer to 72 hours, plus the one-time fees most quotes leave out. We would rather show you an honest range up front than have you discover the gap halfway through.
Does PilotBound cost anything?
PilotBound is free. No paywall, no upsells, no subscription.
