Flight training at Pray Aviation

These are the SOLO prices from Pray's rate table; a dual price sits beside each one. The two differences do not agree, $55 on the trainers and $65 on the Mooney, so no instruction rate can be worked out from them and none is recorded.

   What do you charge per hour for flight instruction, and is ground instruction billed at the same rate?Missing from their site

   This is the number that is missing from the site. Ground is often billed separately and at a different rate.

   Does the instructor rate change for the Instrument, Commercial, or CFI, or is it flat across everything?Missing from their site

   Plenty of schools charge more for advanced instruction. A flat rate quoted for the Private can climb later.

   Is the rate table on your site current, and what is the instruction rate?Missing from their site

   The page carrying it still has placeholder text on it, which usually means an unfinished page rather than a maintained rate card.

   Why is the dual-minus-solo difference bigger in the Mooney?

   It is $55 on the trainers and $65 in the Mooney, so either instruction is priced by aeroplane or one of the figures has moved.

   Do you offer block rates or prepay discounts, and what is the refund policy if I stop partway?

   Block discounts are common and rarely published. The refund terms matter more than the discount.

   What do you charge for the written test, the checkride, and the examiner's fee?

   The DPE fee alone runs $800 to $1,200 in most of the country and is almost never in a quoted hourly rate.

   How many trainers and how many full-time instructors do you have right now?

   Availability decides your pace, and pace decides your total more than the hourly rate does.

Not Pray Aviation's rates. The middle of what 5 Alabama schools charge, to hold your phone quote against.

What we checked

READ THIS BEFORE TRUSTING PRAY'S TABLE. Its rate page is titled "clean up rates" and still carries Lorem Ipsum placeholder text above the table, so it is not a maintained rate card even though the figures on it are specific. The solo prices are recorded and NO instructor rate is derived: dual minus solo comes to two different numbers on two rows, which is exactly the case where a subtraction invents a fact.
