Flight training at BMG Aviation

Flight instruction: $35/hr

BMG publishes its aircraft rental as "starts at $88 per hour" across a mixed fleet that it describes as including single-engine, multi-engine and rotorcraft. That is a floor across several categories rather than a rate for a trainer, so no aircraft rate is recorded here.

   This is the number that is missing from the site, and it is the largest line on your bill.

   Is that rate wet or dry, meaning does it include fuel?Missing from their site

   A dry rate and a wet rate are not comparable. Dry rates can run $40 to $60 an hour lower for the same airplane.

   The $88 is a starting figure across a fleet that includes multi-engine aircraft and helicopters, so it may not be a rate for any aeroplane you would train in.

   That is among the lowest published instruction rates in this directory, and worth confirming before budgeting on it.

   Do you offer block rates or prepay discounts, and what is the refund policy if I stop partway?

   Block discounts are common and rarely published. The refund terms matter more than the discount.

   What do you charge for the written test, the checkride, and the examiner's fee?

   The DPE fee alone runs $800 to $1,200 in most of the country and is almost never in a quoted hourly rate.

   How many trainers and how many full-time instructors do you have right now?

   Availability decides your pace, and pace decides your total more than the hourly rate does.

What we checked

An FBO at Bloomington whose instruction rate is published plainly and whose aircraft rate is a floor. Note the site is served over plain HTTP and its HTTPS certificate has expired, so any fetcher that upgrades the scheme reads it as dead. Checked August 13, 2026.
