Flight training at ProAv Aircraft Services

No instructor rate. ProAv publishes rates for all 4 of its airplanes and nothing for instruction, so there is no total on this page. Instruction is the second biggest line on a training bill, after the airplane.

Cirrus SR20 (N246CD)$275/hrDual G5, dual Avidyne IFD 440, full IFR. CLUB EXCLUSIVE: the site marks this one as available to Flight Club members only.

Every rate is published "Wet". The one instruction figure on the site is not a rate: the pilot agreement PDF says "Instructor fees START AT $60 an hour, with no current minimum billed time", which is a floor rather than a price, so no instructor rate is recorded here. A no-show or a cancellation inside 30 minutes is $125. The Cirrus is reserved for Flight Club members and the site does not say what the club costs.

What to ask when you call

The marked ones are what ProAv's site never answers. The rest are what turns an hourly rate into a real bill.

  1. What do you charge per hour for flight instruction, and is ground instruction billed at the same rate?Missing from their site

This is the number that is missing from the site. Ground is often billed separately and at a different rate.

  2. Does the instructor rate change for the Instrument, Commercial, or CFI, or is it flat across everything?Missing from their site

Plenty of schools charge more for advanced instruction. A flat rate quoted for the Private can climb later.

  3. Instructor fees "start at" $60. What would MINE actually be, for the training I want?Missing from their site

A floor is not a price. The site publishes no ceiling and no tiers, so the only number you can budget against has to come from the school.

  4. What does the Flight Club cost, and is it the only way to fly the Cirrus?

The SR20 is marked club exclusive at $275/hr wet and the club has no published price.

  5. Do you offer block rates or prepay discounts, and what is the refund policy if I stop partway?

Block discounts are common and rarely published. The refund terms matter more than the discount.

  6. What do you charge for the written test, the checkride, and the examiner's fee?

The DPE fee alone runs $800 to $1,200 in most of the country and is almost never in a quoted hourly rate.

  7. How many trainers and how many full-time instructors do you have right now?

Availability decides your pace, and pace decides your total more than the hourly rate does.

What we checked

Publishes a clean wet rate for all four aeroplanes and then declines to price the instructor: the pilot agreement says fees "start at $60 an hour". Recording $60 would turn a floor into a quote, which is the one thing this tier exists to prevent. ProAv also publishes package totals, $17,250 for the Private and $71,650 for a longer programme.
