Flight training at Icarus Time Building & Rentals

Icarus sells prepaid blocks with a bonus credit, $150 on a small block and $1,000 on a big one; the funds do not expire and can be spent at the solo rate. Only the RV-12 is explicitly stated wet.

   This is the number that is missing from the site. Ground is often billed separately and at a different rate.

   Plenty of schools charge more for advanced instruction. A flat rate quoted for the Private can climb later.

   The site does not say, and it is the difference between two rates that look identical and are not.

   Both aeroplanes are priced. The only instruction figures on the site are on a recruitment page and are what Icarus pays its instructors, not what a student pays.

   Is the Remos GX rate wet or dry?

   Only the RV-12 is stated wet.

   Do you offer block rates or prepay discounts, and what is the refund policy if I stop partway?

   Block discounts are common and rarely published. The refund terms matter more than the discount.

   What do you charge for the written test, the checkride, and the examiner's fee?

   The DPE fee alone runs $800 to $1,200 in most of the country and is almost never in a quoted hourly rate.

   How many trainers and how many full-time instructors do you have right now?

   Availability decides your pace, and pace decides your total more than the hourly rate does.

What we checked

READ THIS BEFORE RECORDING AN INSTRUCTOR RATE FOR ICARUS. A crawl of this site returns "$45 per hour" and "$55 per hour" next to the word instruction and scores it a full rate card. Both figures are from /join-the-team-, a RECRUITMENT page, and the sentence is what an instructor can EARN here: "$45 per hour for Icarus-sourced students and $55 per hour for their own". That is a wage, not a price. Both aeroplanes are light-sport, which is the other thing to know about this operator. Checked August 13, 2026.
