Flight training at Brett Aviation

No instructor rate. Brett Aviation publishes rates for all 2 of its airplanes and nothing for instruction, so there is no total on this page. Instruction is the second biggest line on a training bill, after the airplane.

What Brett Aviation publishes

Checked September 5, 2026 · Source

Brett Aviation published aircraft rates
AircraftPublished rateNotes
1975 Cessna 172M with G5s (N9632H)$185.25/hrIFR. Discount columns take it to $172.28.
2001 Cessna 172S with G5s (N45EF)$195/hrIFR. N2119Q, N963TA and N65745 are the same, and so are the three G1000 172SPs.

The fleet page prices eight Skyhawks per tail with 5, 6 and 7 percent discount columns, and an advanced training device at $99. A second, older table still live at /aircraft-rental/ gives lower figures for several of the same tail numbers, $150 rather than $195, along with a Diamond DA20 at $130, a Cessna 152 at $110, a Grumman GA-7 at $270 and an Arrow at $190. The two tables disagree, so only the fleet page is recorded and the older one is flagged below. Nothing states a fuel basis and the instructor is not priced.

What to ask when you call

The marked ones are what Brett Aviation's site never answers. The rest are what turns an hourly rate into a real bill.

  1. What do you charge per hour for flight instruction, and is ground instruction billed at the same rate?Missing from their site

This is the number that is missing from the site. Ground is often billed separately and at a different rate.

  2. Does the instructor rate change for the Instrument, Commercial, or CFI, or is it flat across everything?Missing from their site

Plenty of schools charge more for advanced instruction. A flat rate quoted for the Private can climb later.

  3. Do the published aircraft rates include fuel, or is fuel billed separately?

The site does not say, and it is the difference between two rates that look identical and are not.

  4. Which rate table is current, the fleet page or the older one at /aircraft-rental/?Missing from their site

The same tail numbers appear at $195 on one page and $150 on the other.

  5. What does the instructor cost per hour, and are the rates wet?Missing from their site

Eight airplanes are priced and neither the instructor nor the fuel basis is stated.

  6. Do you offer block rates or prepay discounts, and what is the refund policy if I stop partway?

Block discounts are common and rarely published. The refund terms matter more than the discount.

  7. What do you charge for the written test, the checkride, and the examiner's fee?

The DPE fee alone runs $800 to $1,200 in most of the country and is almost never in a quoted hourly rate.

  8. How many trainers and how many full-time instructors do you have right now?

Availability decides your pace, and pace decides your total more than the hourly rate does.
