Flight training at East Bay Flight

Both Archers are priced wet. A Cirrus SR22T (N3CK) is also published, at $550/hr, but that figure is stated as the DUAL rate, meaning it already includes an instructor. It is not an aircraft rate and is not listed above, and it cannot be used to work out the instruction rate on its own.

   What do you charge per hour for flight instruction, and is ground instruction billed at the same rate?Missing from their site

   This is the number that is missing from the site. Ground is often billed separately and at a different rate.

   Plenty of schools charge more for advanced instruction. A flat rate quoted for the Private can climb later.

   Splitting that one figure would give you both numbers at once, since the Archers are already priced solo.

   Does instruction cost the same in an Archer as in the Cirrus?

   A Cirrus usually needs a standardised instructor, which often carries a higher rate than the same school's Archer instruction.

   Do you offer block rates or prepay discounts, and what is the refund policy if I stop partway?

   Block discounts are common and rarely published. The refund terms matter more than the discount.

   What do you charge for the written test, the checkride, and the examiner's fee?

   The DPE fee alone runs $800 to $1,200 in most of the country and is almost never in a quoted hourly rate.

   How many trainers and how many full-time instructors do you have right now?

   Availability decides your pace, and pace decides your total more than the hourly rate does.

What we checked

Two Archers priced wet and solo, plus a Cirrus SR22T published only as a $550/hr DUAL rate. That last figure is an airplane and an instructor in one number, so it is disclosed and not used: reading it as either half on its own would be wrong. Checked August 6, 2026.
